London baby London…

Hey!

Well I find myself here in London, and come hell or highwater I have to deal with it and try to make a mark on the busy London music scene.

It was with a bit of trepidation that I started going to some open mic nights, but I soon realised that it is no different from Edinburgh. There are some good, some bad, and some just plain ugly.

I’ve had a good reception at each one I’ve played and am looking forward to some showcases in the New Year. It’s refreshing to get back into it, and no doubt I will find some songwriting inspiration in there somewhere!

So, onwards and upwards and London here I come. I must say, I’m not as into speeding into things as I used to be. I’m less of a bull in a china shop now, and more patient about my conquering. I’m old anyway, so there’s no rush in kicking some musical arse is there!?!

Much love and london ramblings…

Watch out London, here comes Hannah and she will take no prisoners!

Ooh, ain’t this a little bit flash!?!

Aren’t you lovin’ this new website of mine? Am terribly in love with it!

I did a gig on Friday night at the Chanter on Bread Street and afterward, in true rockstar style, got hideously drunk… It took me two days to recover - geez, I must be getting old.

Luckily Mr Website man came round and cheered me up with this pretty new site on Sunday. Not a completely wasted weekend then.

Let me know if any parts of the website don’t work… it may have teething problems, but hopefully not too many.

Cheery,
Hann

Hannah takes on the Troubadour

I did a gig in London on Friday… at the Troubadour… (troubadour.co.uk)

Apparently some pretty famous people have played there… Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell etc etc.

I was so nervous beforehand… honestly I don’t think I’ve been that nervous before a gig before.

Although as soon as I was on stage it was all cool - that’s afterall where I seem to prefer to be…

It was awesome, the crowd were wicked, and the other bands rocked too.

It was weird playing in a smoky pub… I’m so used to the smoking ban that it was quite a yucky feeling playing in smoke again, it certainly didn’t do my voice any good. But the venue itself was wicked, despite the smoke.

Big ups to the London crew.

I sometimes wonder if I’m cruising a little too much?

At the mo I’m just letting everything happen… taking the zen approach. That’s mainly cos my brain is all full and I can’t get my act together to push things forward.

I’m relying on the kindness of friends and musical acquaintances to get recording done… which means I can’t exactly push them for a deadline too often!

In the meantime I’m doodling with websites and contemplating the need for a PA. If only!

My day job is busy, so I’m all tired n’ shit. However it comes with perks - they fly me to London quite often so I can do gigs down there if I get organised!

Be patient with me, please. Beautiful music shall reward you if you are.

Getting there…

‘Tis amazing how some things take ages to get going… and others don’t.

I thought I’d have a shiny new website by now… but I don’t.

But I have been recording with the band. So that’s a bonus!

I’m sorry I’ve been slack with this blog… I must admit I kinda forgot about it for a month or so. Oops.

New band-member John (on bass) is such a blessing. What a tremendous addition he is to the line-up.

* am very lucky!

Anyway, not much to report really. We are recording rough demos to see how we are sounding (I can never concentrate when we’re practicing, so prefer to take it away and listen).

Oh, and I’ll be playing the Chanter on Bread Street on 3rd May 9-11 if you’re around! x

Cowboy Boots

Ever had a bit of clothing or a pair of shoes that made you feel better when you wore it/them?

I got me some cowboy boots in Canada over christmas… they make me feel good… like all warm and fuzzy and confident.

It’s all just a security blanket, I know it… but hey, everyone’s got their crutch… mine just happens to be shoes.

See y’all oot n’ aboot shortly… with ma’ new boots!
